With an efficiency of at least 99.97%, HEPA filters are specifically made to capture particles that are 0.3 microns in size or larger. Contrary to popular belief, which holds that particles smaller than 0.3 microns are the hardest to capture, HEPA filters can effectively penetrate particles as small as this because of a combination of interception, impaction, and diffusion mechanisms.

Airflow and Filtration

Particles are drawn into and held within the fibers of the filter as air passes through it. After that, the air is cleaned and delivered to the other side of the filter as pure air.
